We are hiring: Stay Mobile Stay Connected Project Worker

Roar require an appropriately experienced Project Worker to undertake home assessments aimed at identifying how we can best enable people to be as mobile and connected as they would like to be, to coordinate and undertake Strength and Balance exercise delivery throughout Roar and to work in the Roar Do Feet service both supporting organisation and delivery.

1.    Introduction and background

 

Roar- Connections for Life’s vision is to connect lives and promote health and wellbeing in later life. Our charity aims all focus on reducing loneliness and social isolation which research shows is as harmful to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Our approach is to motivate people to self-manage to reduce their decline into frailty and reduce their risk of accidents and falls. This is underpinned by our core values of promoting dignity and delivered with humour and genuine respect.

A key element of our Stay Mobile Stay Connected Strategy is to enable older people who are at risk of FRAILTY, health damaging loneliness and/or avoidable falls to maintain their independence and have the opportunity to meet in their communities, enjoy health and wellbeing activities within a supportive and enabling environment. We also want to increase the numbers of older people who have access to and participate in Strength and Balance classes and Roar Do Feet.

 

2.    Job Context

 

Roar require an appropriately experienced Project Worker to undertake home assessments aimed at identifying how we can best enable people to be as mobile and connected as they would like to be, to coordinate and undertake Strength and Balance exercise delivery throughout Roar and to work in the Roar Do feet service both supporting organisation and delivery

Training, supervision support and on the job mentoring will be given. 

 

All Roar employees are subject to a 3 month probationary period.

 

4. Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS (Measured by Application Form)

  • E - Educated to High School leaver level and with relevant/applicable professional Experience

  • E - Nursing Physio or OT Qualification.

  • D - Otago or strength and balance instructor/trainer                                                                  

  • D - Evidence of commitment to continuous professional/personal development

  • E - Valid UK Driving License   

 

SKILLS (Measured by Application Form/Interview)

  • E - Strong written and verbal communication

  • E - Good organisational skills

  • E - Good interpersonal skills

  • E - Good time management

  • E - Good team working and team building

  • D - Good presentation and report-writing skills 

  • D - Proficient in use of Office 365, Microsoft Word and Excel

 

EXPERIENCE OF… (Measured by Application Form/Interview)

  • E - Working with older adults

  • E - Issues around social care

  • E - Basic project planning

  • D - Developing strong partnerships and working with diverse stakeholders/interest groups

  • E - Involving service users

  • E - Able to create/input ideas to new systems to gather statistical data

  • D - Working with volunteers

  • D - Managing and developing volunteers

  • D - Community development work

  • D - Organising rota’s and groups of interest                              

  • D - Understanding of strategies to reach harder to reach people

  • D - Intergenerational practice and working with intergenerational networks 

  • D - Understanding of Health and Social Care Policy  

  • D - Carrying out Health and Safety Risk Assessments and recommending safe working practices

  • D - Providing input and ideas to new systems to gather statistical data

  • Salary: Self Employed - £15 an hour

  • Term of contract: For duration of funding

  • Responsible to: Stay Mobile Stay Connected Coordinator

  • Hours per week: 20-24hrs per week

  • Annual Leave Entitlement: At own discretion
