Let's talk

Health & wellbeing programmes

Our Renfrewshire network of clubs is an opportunity for older adults (predominantly age 65+) to meet people, socialise and laugh whilst investing in their physical and mental health through life-affirming wellbeing projects.

Craft Club

£3 / West End Community Centre, Paisley / Tuesday 10.30-12.30pm

You’re never too old to learn a new skill. This is a creative solution to reducing isolation and loneliness amongst older adults aged 60+. It offers members a safe, social and creative environment where they can learn new skills, renew social networks and reconnect with their communities.   A tutor is on hand to offer advice and information. There is a £3 charge which includes tea and biscuits.

JamJar Movies

West End Community Centre, Paisley / Tuesday 12.30-3.30pm

Movie and a quiz – a perfect afternoon’s fun. This offers people a chance to see new films and old favourites. With an opportunity to blether about what they have seen, a break for tea/coffee and a quiz, it’s a great afternoon with laughter guaranteed! The club is currently free and includes tea/coffee and biscuits.

Men’s Club

£3 / West End Community Centre, Paisley / Friday 1.30-3.30pm

Come for the banter.  Sometimes we just like to be with our cronies. Aimed at older men, this group offers a range of activities at the West End Community Centre in Paisley. The cost is £3 to cover tea and biscuits. In the short term we will not be running any trips or outings.

Otago Classes (Strength & Balance exercises)

£3 / Venues throughout Renfrewshire

Healthy body, healthy mind. Exercise is key to staying well in later life. OTAGO classes are gentle exercises designed for older adults to improve your strength and balance which will help to keep you mobile.

The Otago Exercise Programme was designed by the University of Otago Medical School in New Zealand specifically to prevent falls in older people. It consists of a set of leg muscle strengthening and balance retraining exercises, progressing in difficulty, and a walking plan. These classes are the ideal way to keep active, retrain those muscles, meet people and make fitness fun. Gentle exercise has as much benefits as rigorous workouts and is a great way to feel energised and active.
