Community Group of the Year – Roar Connections for Life

We are incredibly proud to share that Roar Connections for Life has been named Community Group of the Year at this year’s Provost Community Awards. It is difficult to fully put into words what this recognition means to us. We see every day the strength and compassion of community groups across Renfrewshire, and to be chosen among them feels both humbling and deeply significant. This award shines a light on something we care about profoundly: supporting older members of our community. Many of the people we work with have given so much over the course of their lives, yet their needs can too often be overlooked. As our population continues to age, we know this work will only become more important, and we remain committed to being part of that support.
We are especially grateful to City Gate Construction for sponsoring the award and for recognising the heart of what we do. Their understanding of our work meant a great deal to us. We would also like to thank Billy, one of our befrienders, who nominated us. Seeing his journey with Roar Connections for Life shared on the evening was a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

This recognition belongs to many people. It reflects the dedication of our team, the generosity of our volunteers, the strength of our partnerships, the guidance of our board, and, most importantly, the trust of the people who use our services. We are proud of what has been achieved together, and grateful to be part of such a strong and caring community.

While this recognition means a great deal to us, our focus remains firmly on what comes next. We will continue to listen, to learn, and to support older people across our communities in ways that are meaningful, respectful and rooted in connection.
