Roar Round Up

It’s been another lively and fulfilling period at Roar as we edge closer to the end of the year, with our services buzzing with activity and connection across Renfrewshire.

Our Health and Wellbeing Clubs have been full of energy, with members enjoying seasonal activities, including some Halloween fun. These clubs continue to be a place where friendships grow, laughter is shared, and older adults come together to support one another.

Our Otago strength and balance classes continue to thrive across the area. We’re delighted that almost all groups are now operating at full capacity, with only Renfrew and Johnstone still able to welcome new participants. If you or someone you know would like to join one of these classes, please visit our website for details, we’d love to welcome you.

Last week, our West End group attended the annual SOOPIR Day celebration, which brought together more than 300 older adults at The Lagoon for food, music and most importantly a great dance! This year’s theme was Rock ’n’ Roll, and the excitement rose even higher when Elvis made an appearance. It was a fantastic day full of joy, movement and community spirit. Roar is proud to run this special event in partnership with HSCP, Renfrewshire Council Sheltered Housing, and the Renfrewshire Seniors Forum.

We also launched Operation Santa, our festive initiative that invites members of the community to purchase a gift for an older adult who may otherwise not receive one at Christmas. Thanks to the generosity of local people, we will be delivering these gifts across Renfrewshire during the festive period, helping to share some warmth, joy and connection at what can be a difficult time of year for many.

Our Footcare Clinics continue to go from strength to strength in all venues. By helping people maintain their toenails we support their mobility, confidence and overall wellbeing an essential part of staying independent for longer.

As we move into November and beyond, we’re looking forward to a season full of celebration, companionship and the incredible community spirit that Roar is known for. Here’s to more connection, more laughter, and more moments that make this time of year so special for everyone involved.
